Introduction
Before I start writing about all the easy steps of buying and selling Real Estate I want to tell you a little bit about myself and how I came up with the idea of writing this book.
My whole life I have worked in sales, at eleven years old I sold my very first fur hat when I was working for my mom in Russia. Ever since then, I have been selling, learning all the techniques of overcoming objections, negotiating prices and looking for the best product for my clients. I have to tell you, no matter what I sold, the process was always the same the only difference was the product.
When I started my career in Real Estate, the very first rule I learned was that food and shelter are the most essential things. People will always need food and they will always need to have roof over their head.
In the past few years, Real Estate market gone up and down taking predictable and unpredictable turns. People make or lose money invested in Real Estate all the time, but no matter how the economy will behave and adjust prices, it will never stop people from getting married and divorcing, kids will never stop growing out of parents houses, and of course when we retire we will go to a better place than our old and outdated houses. Real Estate market will never stop because of all these factors.
When I bought my first house I had no idea what I was doing, when I sold that same house, it was even more confusing and very stressful. Now, working as a Realtor, I can understand why I was so stressed out - the unknown is scary. It is scary for everybody, different people deal with it in a different ways, but for the most part, we all become agitated, stressed out, we lose sleep, we don’t want to look like idiots asking questions and we argue with our spouses. We become totally different people when we are forced by circumstances to do something outside of our comfort zone. After struggling with our emotions, most of us just give in and go with the flow, making ourselves vulnerable to every mistake possible.
Because of my background, I had a nice niche of working with people coming from different countries which gave me an opportunity to learn how to convert difficult terms of the contracts in to a simple language that could be understood by a child.
Let me start by telling you that this book is designed for an average, everyday person or family and not for the Realtors. No matter how you are going to be selling your home, by yourself or with the help of a professional Realtor, this book will help you to understand what exactly is involved in the process of buying or selling your home.
Why this book not designed for Realtors? Well, simply because they are doing it every day, the process became a routine, and they tend to forget sometimes that what is a routine for them is absolutely new territory for their clients. Realtors know the process, they should, or otherwise they shouldn’t be doing it. But for someone who only sells their own house once in every few years, the process may look way more complicated than it actually is.
Getting Your Home Ready For Sale
The big decision is made; all reasons are on the table. It is time to sell your home. First thing first, look around and ask yourself a question: Is your home ready for sale? Does it look like it worth its top dollars? Probably not…. Not at this particular moment at least….
Curb Appeal
Everybody knows that first impression is very vital in many aspects of our lives. Whether it is the first interview or the first date we do dress to impress, or at least we clean up (some to a point that our own parents can’t recognize us). Well… creating that memorable first impression is not different when you getting your house ready for sale.
I won’t tell you anything new here, we all know what to do, it is just doing what we know will give us that satisfaction of a good result.
You will need to worry about the curb appeal only if you are an owner of a house or a townhouse. If you own a townhouse stile condo you are a bit limited with what you can do because it is up to condo association to take care of an outside walls and fences, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t
