Things are changing Gradually
Yes, things are changing gradually, unlike in the past decade, women were relegated to the background. women are now moving into paid employment outside the home. In recent times especially in the US, women now made up slightly more than half the workforce. Some women now occupy Chief Executive positions in both the public and the private sector. But in other countries of the world especially in Africa and the Middle East, women in top positions are very few.
However in the US, Europe. Canada and Australia women are working, but they are often still worse paid than men, Most women are still in part-time jobs or in the huge informal employment sector with little protection and few rights. Women should be given an opportunity in the top positions, because they have been performing better than men. The time for a change is now.
Male counterpart are very stubborn, they don’t want to give women a chance to rise to the top. The time for God to intervene is now. Women are not making it to the top of any profession in the world. Majority are always subordinate.
Secondly, women face a lot of sexual harassment from men which in many countries is outlawed in the workplace. And often, and as I mention earlier, women are not allowed to take charge than men. As soon as women started having children most of their earnings do decline.
Thirdly, despite the fact that in many countries girls are forging ahead of boys when it comes to educational attainment, this doesn’t always pay dividends when it comes to employment. This is the time to make things happen to women. It is sad to know that despite the educational standard attained by women, they may not advance in their carrier according to their heart desires. What is the essence of attaining a university education and end up in the kitchen. You need to talk and pray to God for your husband to accept your desire to advance in your chosen carrier.
What should be Done to Achieve Gender equality as soon as possible
Before going into the prayer session on a daily basis for the next 30 days, we will examine all the things women should do to achieve Gender equality apart from praying and fasting.
The first thing women should do to achieve gender equality is for the most successful women to talk to women and girls.
Yes, talk to women and girls, by organizing seminars, workshops, programs only for girls and women. Few women in power should use their influence to sponsor programs that will favor women in the legislation.
Secondly, Encourage girls especially in the rural areas to use mobile phones
It is so bad that girls in some countries of the world are not allowed to use mobile phones. For example in India majority of girls don’t have access to using basic technology such as phones and computers because of infrastructure related challenges and economic reasons.
Women in top positions at international level should use their influence to formulate a policy that will lift ban of girls not using mobile phones. It is very difficult for girls and women to have access to equal resources, opportunities and rights without access to technology?
Thirdly, child marriage and sexual harassment should be totally discouraged
Successful women in government or in top positions should use their influence and connection to end child marriage and sexual harassment. In some countries especially in Africa and Middle East, child marriage is very common. For instance in Bangladesh and India more than 40% of girls are married before the age of 18 and above. This act should be discouraged if sincerely, we want gender equality to be achieved. Compulsory education should be compulsory to both girls and boys If we want girls to be able to complete with their male counterpart.
Fourthly, successful and influential women should use available resources within their power to build confidence in girls
Women should organize life changing and motivational seminars to build confidence in girls. The seminars should only be for girls so as to close the gap with their boys counterpart. Influential and successful women should focus on building girls with assurance that they can make it and be like them. They should not be afraid.
Sixthly, influential women to empower mothers
Women in power and the influential ones should use their power and resources to empower mothers especially the jobless ones. There should be great moves to increase number of girls going through formal education through providing schools for girls in every district.
The advantages of educating and empowering mothers is that they will be able to make choices in their lives, enable their daughters to go to school.
Seventhly, women should be encouraged to get into power
The fastest way to ensure gender equality is for more women to be in power, so that they will be able to formulate a policy that will accelerate gender equality.
Eighthly, women should be encouraged to go into vocations.
