ANNE FRASER was born in Scotland, but brought up in South Africa. After she left school she returned to the birthplace of her parents, the remote Western Islands of Scotland. She left there to train as a nurse, before going on to university to study English Literature. After the birth of her first child she and her doctor husband travelled the world, working in rural Africa, Australia, and Northern Canada. Anne still works in the health sector. To relax, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, walking, and travelling.
Many of you will know that I like to set my books in countries I love, and where I have spent time—and this one is no exception.
The Peloponnese is perhaps less well known than the Greek islands or Athens, but it has its own charm—stunning beaches, spectacular mountains (with very scary roads!), and around every corner a famous city, ruin, or legend.
I hope you enjoy spending time with Alexander and Katherine, each of them with their own secret, as they track down the source of a meningitis epidemic while trying not to fall in love.

IT WAS THAT moment before dawn, before the sky had begun to lighten and the moon seemed at its brightest, when Alexander saw her for the first time. On his way to the bay where he kept his boat, his attention was caught by a woman emerging like Aphrodite from the sea.
She paused, the waves lapping around her thighs, to squeeze the water from her tangled hair. As the sun rose, it bathed her in light adding to the mystical scene. He held his breath. He’d heard about her—in a village this size it would have been surprising if the arrival of a stranger wasn’t commented on—and they hadn’t exaggerated when they’d said she was beautiful.
