      The word أُستاذ (ustaath) in Arabic is commonly used for a teacher, lawyer, or engineer. It is a matter of respect in Arab countries to use it when addressing someone in one of these professions, for example: أُستاذ عُمَر المُحامي (ustaath ‘omar al muhamee) (Mr Omar the lawyer).

      It is part of the culture in Arab countries to ask someone about their family. When asking “How are you?”, it is polite to also ask “and how is your family?”
