TO EMMY JEAN
Who believed in me more than I believed in myself.
And inspired me as only a mother can.
CONFESSIONS OF A CONVICTED FELON
Though the story is true, I have changed the names of several participants who wished to remain anonymous. In some cases, I have composited characters and associated them with events they may not have been part of. The stories themselves are true, but introducing more names would only confuse the narrative. So I took a few liberties in the interest of adding connective tissue without getting tangled in a sea of names. Otherwise, I have stuck to the facts as we recalled them some forty years later. After all that time, I readily admit that our operating systems may have fallen a few upgrades behind. But we still have a shitload of memory. And memories like this are made to last a lifetime.
