My mother had a bed in the living room by the front door where she and Rocky would sleep.

      We went from a full-size bed that we shared to bunk beds that were right on the other side of the wall. We were basically in the kitchen area, and it sucked. As we got older, we couldn’t stand sleeping with one another, but it was a normal dwelling for us. We had one TV in the living room, and if we watched any shows, we had to sit on the floor. It did not feel comfortable watching with Rocky lying on the bed behind us. At times, I had to sleep with one of my brothers on the twin bunk beds. First one on the bed was lucky. It was usually whoever had the bottom. Our bathroom was the worst. The toilet was old and too low. The sinks fixtures were old with lots of calcium buildup. The shower looked like a tall rectangular concrete box. It was dark inside with no lighting. There were always cobwebs with spiders or roaches inside. The hot water wouldn’t last long, so we had to take a quick shower every day. We had to wait in between showers, and in the winter, it was cold as hell in that bathroom. I was terrified of that dang shower.
