is an AEWN meeting, it can be a morning or afternoon tea, luncheon or dinner depending on the individual AEWN group’s preference. At each meeting three members are featured as speakers. There speech can be on the topic of their choice.
We like the AEWN co-ordinator to record these presentations so they can be emailed to AEWN and the best presentations nationally will be featured each week on the Network’s website.
Each month the best speaker is uploaded onto YouTube for international exposure.
These monthly speaking competitions have been held since 1986 and they have enabled the AEWN members to gain personal confidence while allowing them to promote their businesses or just develop their individual skills as public speakers so they can be paid as professional speakers in future.
National Speakers’ Award: The three AEWN members that speak at each monthly meeting compete on the day and the winner who is judged by the members and guests attending the meeting is the winner and has the opportunity to compete in a state competition.
State winners at the end of each year are invited to attend a national competition to gain the AEWN National Speaker’s AWARD.
Industry Focus Groups: Special meetings are organised from time to time to assist members to learn (from industry experts) about changes within their environment. These are recorded and featured on the Network’s website to benefit all members.
Fortune Forum: Would you like a group of AEWN like-minded members to spend an hour brainstorming to help you create your personal fortune?
These meetings are extremely valuable for all AEWN members who attend. The group of 10 to 15 members pull a business card out of a hat. If you are one of the lucky ones “in focus” at the session you will be given 15minutes to state: where you are currently in your business or career, your personal talents, skills and experience; where you want to be and an outline of what you want to achieve.
The group only then respond with their ideas for you for the next 45 minutes. You are not allowed to speak while they brainstorm on your behalf; no-one is permitted to make a negative statement.
All information generated by the group is recorded and the members are able to access the information on the Network’s website.
These meetings successfully develop new business concepts and career opportunities for members who are experiencing mind blocks, difficult challenges alone in business or in corporate positions.
Many new businesses have been developed and existing businesses expanded because of the fabulous ideas shared by the members. These “Forums” are a Win/Win for everyone.
Members’ Showcase Days: Exhibitions and discussion panels assist members to promote their business services and products to other members and the general public.
Members’ Advertising Services: AEWN members can advertise on the Network’s website providing members with the opportunity to promote their business products and services to other members and the general public.
Employment Referral Service: A FREE employment service is offered to members who are looking for work. Members are required to keep the Adelaide – Head Office, up to date with their employment situation. AEWN maintain an inexpensive search facility to corporations seeking women in management.
Corporate Membership: As a corporate member your company has the privilege of using the AEWN national employment search facility free of charge to find suitable staff or board members.
AEWN Sponsors: The sponsoring companies are the Network’s partners in business. AEWN works with its sponsors on joint activities and promotions. The members of the Network are encouraged to use the sponsors’ services and buy their products. Sponsors’ representatives are invited to speak at AEWN meetings.
Personalised AEWN Business Cards: The Network helps members to open new doors for business with their own AEWN business cards. An inexpensive card gives each member an opportunity to have her own name, business name, phone number, email address and business website on the cards. It’s an excellent way to promote your own business, while introducing new contacts to the AEWN network membership. We have found members like to buy from fellow members so the more members you introduce the more business you will generate for your own enterprise.
Tomorrow’s Executive Workshops: An incentive started in 1988 by AEWN members who were concerned about school leavers needing help to enter the workforce. The five-day programme focuses on: conflict resolution, confidence and self-esteem building, resume writing, telephone and email marketing and work shadowing. This program has been overwhelmingly successful with young people gaining confidence, discovering personal skills, finding AEWN mentors, and even being employed by AEWN members with their own businesses or working in management.
AEWN Scholarship: Introduced in 1989 to assist young people 18 or over, wishing to attend our Tomorrow’s Executive Workshops and Business Forums. To qualify for a part or full scholarship a student must obtain written recommendation from his or her school principal.
Trainers, Speakers & Authors: AEWN is keen to assist you in your careers. We will help you publish your books and training manuals and we will also promote you as a speaker, author or trainer to our national membership. You must be a financial member of AEWN to gain our promotional assistance.
Book Library & E-Books: AEWN keeps a library of members’ printed books, as well as a database of members’ e-books. Members with published books submit a copy of their books to AEWN when they join the Network. We are happy to promote the publications to other members.
Real Estate Assistance: AEWN Founder and President, Lucille Orr, has her own fully licensed real estate business AWARE Properties Pty. Ltd. AWARE (Australian Women and Real Estate) was established in 2000 to assist AEWN members and their families to invest in property. AWARE Properties offers unique services to Tenants, Landlords, Buyers, Sellers, even Private Sellers and organises Property Tours. AEWN members enjoy special privileges.

AUSTRALIAN EXECUTIVE WOMEN’S NETWORK Founding Co-ordinators
Lucille Orr takes this opportunity to thank the women who assisted the AEWN in its formative years.
The Executive Woman of the Year Award commenced in South Australia in 1987, with the addition of a Speakers Award from 1988. While working as a managing agent with MLC Life in 1990, Lucille gained the financial support of the Life company to expand the Network to all states of Australia.
As each branch opened, a co-ordinator was appointed. Seven of the pioneering co-ordinators were – or had been – associated with the visionary insurance firm, MLC Life.
The first branch beyond Adelaide was started by Claire Riddell in Mildura (Victoria), while in the South Australian Riverland, Maureen Francombe opened a branch by organising monthly dinner meetings. In mid 1991, Robyn Henderson launched the Sydney branch. This rapid expansion continued with the opening of a Rockhampton (Queensland) branch by Lynda Shaw and a Brisbane one by Lynette Palmen, assisted by Noela Anderson.
