Scattered Thoughts

would you clean, sweep, scrub, and rebuild the ghettos and slums to make sure all could read, write, and do mathematics (to where no one would be considered illiterate, stupid, or dumb)? Everyone would have a decent place to live and sleep, where people would always have enough food to eat.

What about ecology? Would you help to clean up the land, air, beaches, oceans, and seas so we all could live a good, clean life and breathe nontoxic, pure, unpolluted air? Would you dare to care about whales, elephants, lions and bears or anyone besides yourself if you had an abundance of riches and wealth? What about hate, racism, and discrimination? Would you open up lines of communication to do something to change this devilish, ignorant, narrow-minded situation that has lasted and gone on and existed far too long? Would you correct this wrong and make it right, where intolerance and prejudice would be outlawed under the sun and God’s heavenly light? Would you create jobs and teach people skills so everyone could pay their bills to take care of their financial ills in order to fulfill their hopes and dreams?

If you had the power or means to stop drug addiction (where drug dealers would become fiction), and people would no longer be slain or killed by drugs, guns, or knives, because every human life is considered precious and dear, for it belongs to God—from the bottom of their feet to the tops of their head and to the center of their hearts—will you do your part? From the beginning to the start to create a special place that is real? An oasis where all men and women are accepted by their peers, where love for your fellow man is not looked at as funny or queer? Where mothers no longer are crying and sobbing hurtful tears (because premature death of their children is no longer a part of their fears)?

Grateful people who live in a world where no one any longer dwells on or thinks about suicide because they lost their inspiration and pride, they feel like they hate themselves and can no longer just go along for the ride if you rule the world and universe; would you always put God first, the living supreme ultimate infinite being who quenches our needs, hunger, and thirst? The one who gave the earth and all of us life and birth?

      Just for Today

Just for today (God willing each and every day), let me hold selfish ugliness at bay. Let me gladly humble myself to God and pray to be helpful and humble in every way. Let me use my mind to apply my intelligence with common sense. Let me be able to accept constructive criticism without taking on personal feelings of offense, like I’ve been unfairly called out, belittled, or lynched.

Just for today, let me push my pride aside to be able to follow and not always lead, if that is what will help me or others to achieve. Let me help any stranger in need do good deeds; help myself and others’ needs; plant humble, positive, Godly seeds. Let no man or woman be afraid, because with faith come brighter days. Let me bring peace, tranquil joy without fear. Speak the truth loud and clear. Put the divine words of God in every heart, mind, and ear.

Just for today, let me be able to shine without dulling someone else’s light. Let me smile if I can make someone’s day feel sunny and bright. Let me be a student of understanding and peace both day and night. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low.

The crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain in order to change what is wrong into right so the wings of justice can take flight.

Just for today, let me be able to heal; share a drink or a meal; not steal; be honest and real; always say what I feel; my purpose and part; never break hearts; be humble, caring, kind, intelligent, and smart; be able to finish what I start.

Just for today, let me never demand that others crawl, but stand tall; be there for others who feel weak and small.

Just for today, let me never just go along for the ride but always listen to the inner voice inside who fills me with hope and pride; who helps me to soar high and fly, touch the sky without clipping someone’s wings. Let me treat every woman or man like a queen or king. Look everyone in their eyes, never ever cheat, deceive, or lie. Let me never try but do or die (for the spirit will not be denied).

Let me gladly shake anyone’s hand and only see woman or man. Let me support the youth with wisdom, understanding, and truth. Let me look at a stranger and not feel danger but joy on their face without color, creed, religion or race but a fellow human saved by grace.

The loving feelings of God’s love and embrace should be felt everywhere and every place.

      My Eyes

My eyes, they never tell untruths or fiction; they shine, glow, and glisten; they tell many stories if you look, observe, and listen. They have seen big city shopping malls. They have seen mountains that are majestic and tall; cotton, wheat, and corn sprouting up from the soil; mystic, cascading waterfalls; girls playing basketball. My eyes have seen the darkness and the light, the dim and the bright, birds taking flight, young boys flying kites, boxers fighting fights.

I thank God for my sight that feels so right that keeps my brain tight. My eyes are never surprised, because they look beyond the surface but deep inside. My eyes have seen ladybugs, grasshoppers, spiders, and dragonflies. God blessed my eyes to witness tuxedos, gowns, and bowties. My eyes have seen today’s mysteries and years ago history. My eyes, if you look closely, you can see life’s stories, highs, lows, and children grow; lives being destroyed, then taken into tow.

My happiness and joy, bad little girls and good little boys; pain and sorrow; people who were here today, then gone tomorrow. My eyes have seen many things—poor boys who turned out to be kings; the summer, autumn, winter and spring; the birds fly and sing; churches where the bells ring; birth and death, old and new, rock and roll, jazz, hip-hop, classical, and the blues too. They have seen large building tools, the first day of school, peace and war, criminals fighting and shooting it out with the law.

My eyes are the mirrors of my soul; they have seen silver, diamonds, and gold; hurricanes that left their toll; dictators taking control; twisters that were bold; and lover’s taking strolls. My eyes have seen Broadway plays, famous actors on stage, movies, live concerts, weddings and funerals, rivers and oceans, cars, ships, and airplanes…so many different things like flowers, grass and trees, the flight of the bumblebees.

They have seen love and hate, young couples on their first dates, different countries, cities, and states, people who were ignorant, shallow, but yet great. My eyes have seen and witnessed mountains, valleys, hills, and waterfalls; women wearing hats, gasoline and oil; dogs and cats. They have seen the moon, stars, and the sun; submarines, tanks, bullets and guns. My eyes have seen stars fall down from the sky; people who tell jokes and lies; people who give up on life or don’t try to touch the sky. They have gazed upon deer, groundhogs and rabbits having fun; and bears on the run; pretty girls with curls; beautiful things; war and peace; fine restaurants where people dine and eat; good, bad, happy, and sad; young boys who grew up to be dads.

My eyes provide sight for my brains; they have seen choo-choo trains. My eyes, they never lie; my eyes sometimes hurt and cry when telling someone special who died goodbye. My eyes have seen cake, cookies, and apple pies. My eyes derived from the beauty inside; but far more than anything, they have witnessed the sun set and rise. I thank God for my working beautiful eyes.

      What Would You Do?

If you knew this was your last day on earth

What would you do? Who would you call?

Who would you want to see?

If you knew today was your dying day

Is there anyone you would want to say goodbye to?

If you knew the day and the hour that you’re going to meet

      Your higher power,

      What would you do?

Let’s live life one day at a time, and try to find

Some kind of peace of mind

And remember to be gentle and kind

To everyone we meet and to whom we speak

      The
