this situation was bigger than I could cope with and left as fast as I could, yet I knew that from the time the force had attacked me, it had been aware of some kind of protection that I had so it never came too close.
Later that night, we were in the local pub and I asked Matthew for a little history of the house and his family. Matthew and two of his friends who had been living with him all said that they had been feeling unwell, tired and headachy, and one complained of being thrown out of bed. All that Matthew knew about the house was that his family had lived there for about 10 years, his mother had died at home and his father had died of a heart attack just a few months ago. They had bought the house from two old sisters. One had died in the house and the other had sold the property before going into a nursing home. The family had always felt the house seemed a little strange, but Matthew himself had not noticed anything different until his father had died.
I returned to my class the following week and Gillian suggested that I meet a friend who had been involved in soul rescue work for many years. This was Terry. I met him during a weekend workshop he was running for Gillian’s students on psychic protection and asked if he would come and investigate the St Margarets poltergeist.
The investigation of the property suggested it was built over an underground stream. There are a lot of waterways in St Margarets, as it is so close to the river. In addition the area had been recorded as a plague pit site from the Great Plague of London.
The psychic activity in the house had been aggravated by Matthew’s grief for his parents and by his own psychic energy. The poltergeist that had lived in the property had probably been active for many years, but had used Matthew as a doorway into this world.
This was my first lesson with a poltergeist and the power of my own faith and prayer. Terry visited the house and released the spirits of the dead, who were all willing to leave. We left the spirit force that lived under the house to return to the land.
After blessing the house and cleansing the main negative spots, which were in the kitchen and the front room, Terry sealed the energy with crystals to stop the poltergeist from entering the house and affecting the physical world. Shortly afterwards, Matthew decided it would be a good idea to sell up and move on...
This encounter was the beginning of my relationship with Terry. We made our connection through our spiritual interests and I began my initiation into soul rescue work with him. Since then we have travelled across the world and visited hundreds of homes, sites and ancient places, releasing the souls of the dead and healing the Earth.
MY WORK AS A PSYCHIC
My gift in communicating with spirits means that I can help people on two levels. Many of my clients come to me because I speak to them with the voice of an ancestor or a spirit guide who helps them to find within themselves a deeper knowledge of their purpose and destiny on this planet. In the process they come to believe in the existence of the otherworld and so they learn to trust the processes of life and learn to lead happy, fulfilled, successful lives through the connection they have with their soul and their ancestors.
On the other hand my gift has brought me many experiences with the dying and the dead. People come to me when they learn that they are dying or when someone close to them has died and I am able to help them approach death and bereavement as a spiritual rite of passage. People die in many different ways, but the soul undergoes a similar process as it journeys from this world to the next. I have had many experiences of souls coming to me in the days after death, in dreams and apparitions, either because they need my help to move on or because they want me to reassure their living relatives that they are fine.
I have come to understand that dying is very similar to giving birth. When I work with the dying, healing and talking with them, I am simply helping them to understand how to let go into death. In the same way as a birthing mother has to let go at a pivotal point in her labour to allow the child to be born, so we have to let go when we die. It is much less painful and traumatic if we do.
The newly dead often appear to me soon after they have died, even when they are thousands of miles away. Communicating with the living may help them to make their transition from the physical to the spiritual world or they may simply be saying goodbye. I am honoured to be a part of their transition, offering them some psychic support and guidance. I am also honoured to be able to use my gifts to help those who are dying. It is important that we all have some spiritual guidance to help us prepare for death. As society embraces a caring attitude to birth, it is also essential that the dying are made to feel safe so that the soul can journey on as freely as possible.
My talent as a soul rescuer is in communicating with those in the otherworld who wish to help their families and in assisting in the healing of those who have recently died. This work helps to prevent souls becoming earthbound in the first place. So even as Terry works to rescue the dead, I help to make sure that they do not need rescuing.
THE KALACHAKRA INITIATION
In 1989 we decided to take a pre-marital honeymoon to India, where we visited Delhi, Kashmir and Ladakh. In Delhi we visited a Hindu temple filled with icons and paintings of Krishna. We received a blessing from the priest, who anointed our brows, reminding Terry of the elation he felt at his first communion as a child. A great light touched us. It taught me that there is no difference in God, whatever faith you are led by.
We journeyed further into India and arrived in the north, in Kashmir. Here we realized we were surrounded by earthbound spirits, even at the mosque. Kashmir is a place of political and religious struggle. There are frequent outbreaks of war between various factions and this is reflected in the atmosphere and the number of earthbound spirits.
In Ladakh, at 12,000 feet, it was easier for the spirit to soar. The atmosphere was conducive to peace and the Buddhist lifestyle. It was Buddha’s birthday the night we arrived and there was a procession of pilgrims going into the hills to the local monastery. Each held a lighted candle. This was a spectacular sight and an inspiration. It enhanced the beauty of the landscape.
During this trip we were invited by a high lama from Dharamasala to participate in a Kalachakra ceremony for world peace. We were the only Westerners in attendance apart from the Dalai Lama’s official photographer, an American. This two-week ritual took us to the limits of our patience and egocentricity. We had to sit from 6 a.m. through the whole day chanting, singing, praying and meditating on top of the roof of the world. We had to walk down mountains, wade across deep streams, burn incense and seeds, rice and paper, purify ourselves in water and withstand hours of prayer and ritual to become initiated in the Tibetan method of liberation and peace. By the end of the first week, we were different people, the light shone from our faces and we had offloaded so much anger, rage and mental anxiety that we literally flew down the mountains back to Delhi and home.
Our next journey was through the Americas, meeting our Native American cousins who taught us the work we had to do with the land.
This book too is a journey, offering the opportunity of understanding the realms of spirit and the deep connection that we have with our ancestors. The physical and the spiritual co-exist, as beliefs throughout the world since the beginning of time confirm. Physical death is but a rite of passage into the liberation of the spirit, into the light, and the world of the in-between, the land of earthbound spirits, ghosts and ancestors...
Through the many years we have worked together, we have laughed and cried, shared stories and advice with many people. This is their story as well as our own journey.
Enjoy.

You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it at the heart of life?
