      A Dedication

THE ENTIRE WORLD was shocked and saddened by the passing of Neil Armstrong on August 25, 2012. Several months before he died Neil graciously wrote the Foreword to this book. This Foreword was very special to me and is even more so in light of his death.

Neil was a true American hero, yet one of the most modest men I ever knew. That modesty is beautifully reflected in his Foreword.

It seems fitting and appropriate then that I dedicate this book to Neil—a truly wonderful man.

I was deeply honored to be asked to deliver a eulogy at his memorial service in Cincinnati on August 31, 2012. With his wife Carol’s permission, I am including a copy of my eulogy in the Appendix of this book.

      —CSM, Jr.

Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag

      And smile, smile, smile.

—World War I marching song written in 1915 by George Powell

      When you’re smiling,

      When you’re smiling,

The whole world smiles with you.

—Song written by Larry Shay/Mark Fisher/Joe Goodwin
