      For all the large people out there, here’s a list of words to encourage you to thin up a bit. For someone who’s just chubby I use the word ตุ้ยนุ้ย [dtôuie-nóuie] instead of the more common อวบ [’ùap]. If it’s a girl you can say สบึม [sà bùem] (sometimes spelled as สบึมส์). If her chubbiness is cute and squishy, then you can use the word อึ๋ม [’ǔem]. Another cute way to refer to someone with a potbelly is พุงพลุ้ย [poong plóuie].

      Although most people would rather you not call them chubby, the above words are a lot less harsh than the following words for fat. Instead of calling someone อ้วน [’ûan] to mean fat, try using ช้างน้ำ [cháhng nám]. For a real fatty or cow I suggest calling them a อึ่งอ่างทะเล [’ùeng ’àhng tá lae], which is a kind of sea frog, or โอ่งต่อขา [’òeng dtàw kǎh], which is like a jar with legs. A good one for a real fat-ass or ugly bitch is ผีเสื้อสมุทร [pěe sûea sà mòot], but I wouldn’t use this last one unless you really want to piss a girl off.
