imager we could see the developing foetus. It was the size of a peanut. We could even see its tiny beating heart. We had hoped to see this on several occasions before, but unfortunately due to medical issues we had never had a pregnancy to this length of time before. The magic 12 week number, the one where you are told the worst of the complications are over and that it looks very promising for a successful pregnancy.
So we are hoping our luck has changed, but at the same time wondering what was going to happen in the future.
We heard over the loudspeaker that the Shards have changed the beams to a lapis lazuli coloured pulsating beam.
The doctor mentioned to us, “Everything looks good. Nothing looks to be wrong with what I can see. I expect over the next 2 months to see some rapid development of the baby, and you’ll start to notice more changes and different sensations, these are a normal part of the development progress. Enjoy these feelings as they are something every mother feels.”
Whilst Bubbles was getting dressed I was thinking that after years of struggling and pain finally we will be a family, but I was worried with what might happen with the Shards, the world and us. Now do we have to face up to a struggle for life, just living day by day not knowing what is going to happen? I’m worried that we bring a child into a world that may be worse than ever.

We were back in the media room, having a coffee and watching what was happening. There have been no more positional changes. The last one seems to have left the ships in a very tight formation. They were still running their beams, however wherever it was dark these beams seem to sparkle with every pulse. We suspected that it was due to the low light conditions allowing for these pulses to look so stunning, a bit like the waterfall effect with fireworks.
Sammy told us that the area being illuminated was different for each location where they had some creditable source. It seems that the Shards had larger areas where population densities were higher. The specialists were saying that it might be an attempt to communicate with us, and it was hoped that whatever they were doing would soon make sense to us all.
Sammy said that the beams were some distance away from the bunker complex, however he had sent some teams to the local light show. So far there has been a sense of fear, uncertainty and doubt from the teams, like a mild euphoria effect that was being relayed in the voices.
They have ordered the units to leave the area, but so far only 3 out of 20 defenders have pulled out of the area of influence. These three people are reporting that they found it difficult to leave the area as it felt so peaceful, but now they feel a little dizzy from the experience. They have tried to call the other members of the units back out, but they are simply not responding to orders.
Sammy has said that orders have been given to try to hold back crowds of people going into the area, but it’s a hopeless case, as there are simply too many people and not enough units to stop them. As soon as they are touched by the beam, it’s impossible to turn them back. As it stands two of the three defenders have returned back to the area, to ‘feel better’.
What can we do when people are acting like sheep? It certainly seems that nothing can be done, as it’s affecting everyone just the same.
On the Media channels the same scenes are happening around the world, it seems that wherever there was a group of Shards, the same things were happening. Other political and military spokespersons were warning people to stay clear of the Shards’ light shows.

We have just heard that there is a distinct humming noise coming from the local Shards that is increasing in volume, currently it’s at the noise level of a boiling kettle. It’s making anyone outside of the light affect area want to move away and inside the area they are all transfixed at the Shards. Even people that were responding through the veil of light are simply unresponsive.
Sammy ordered all units to fall back to safety, as something obviously was happening.
Bubbles is holding me tightly and is shaking; we both fear the worst is coming.
Our media screens have been showing a similar pattern happening around the world, they are definitely intelligent as they have to be in communication to keep this level of coordination. As we were watching, some screens are flickering, and then a couple of screens go blank to be replaced by other cameras, but located at more distant locations.
Then suddenly the Shards’ beams just turned off, nothing changes. The humming is still there and is about as loud as an idling family sized car. The people seem to be trapped there, they do not move.
Without any warning, some of the soldiers in the defensive units also appeared to be like the others, a couple more joined the silent ranks attempting to reach their mates. From what we have seen there was no set pattern, as the effects have spread out in random ways. Just in the general area, its estimated around eight hundred thousand people, man, woman and children, are just trapped, just at Wellington alone.
Sammy has heard that headquarters has ceased responding to reports and can’t be reached with secure radios, landlines or cell phones. Reports from the coverage of Christchurch state that from a distance, there is no visible movement, and that they have lost contact with their crews that were covering this event.
We lost power for a period of time, our lights and screens dimmed and then return to normal. Outside it’s getting darker as dusk turns to night. There is no power outside, anywhere that we can see, it’s off.
Sammy has ordered all forces to get themselves and as many of the city’s residents out of the city and towards the mountains.
Looking from our coverage of the city, this will be a tall order as the areas that are affected are in a random pattern. A lot of people are surrounded. In other places, we see no one for some distance and we already know how they can detect the field, by blind dumb luck, simply walking into the area.

Sammy has held an open briefing of what he’s aware of, the following is as best as I can remember as I was stunned.
As of this moment I’ve assumed command of the forces of New Zealand, however many there are left to effectively command. We believe that we have lost over 80% of our active forces and probably 70% of our reserves. I say lost because nothing seems to be able to get through to our men trapped by the light beams of the Shards. We can’t do anything but hope for their safety, at the moment until we find a way to get through to them.
I have spoken to other governments and military leaders, they are reporting similar findings. America is currently contemplating an attack on the Shards, to break the effects of the light beams. At this point the remaining leadership is uncertain about what course of action to take. The leaders of foreign countries are reporting extensive power outages in the general area of the Shards. We are currently running on emergency power, which has been designed to give this bunker power for 30 days, until fuel supplies are exhausted.
All of Britain and large parts of Europe are dead zones. We can’t reach anyone, other than a few remote locations. All internet2 connectivity to these sites and many others is also out. Many of our links are going via redundant satellite services, however in some cases we can’t get in contact with anyone.
The worst prospect with these terrible events is that in New Zealand, based on what we have been able to determine and deduce from local and satellite feeds, is that over 90% of populated areas are contained within the light beams. Effectively 98% of our population is in the affected areas or surrounded unable to get out. We can’t do a damned thing about it, as soon as anything crosses the boundary line, it’s trapped. We have tried to pull people out with many different varied ideas, all of them have failed and in some cases more people have been trapped. We won’t give up trying. We don’t want to leave people behind.
World-wide the same stories are being told. In all cases the trapped population appears to cover extremely high percentage of the total population of the earth.
