“Where are you?” Heidi whispered. She stepped back outside to scan the parking lot.
A figure walked toward her. She studied him, but it wasn’t the man she’d come to meet.
As he got closer, he lifted his gaze and connected with hers. Blue ice chips bored into her.
She whirled to go back into the restaurant, but a hard hand grabbed her ponytail and yanked her toward her car. She let out a scream and threw an elbow back. She connected, and her attacker let out a harsh grunt.
His grip relaxed a fraction, and Heidi lashed out with a foot, connecting with a hard knee. He cried out and went to the asphalt.
And she was free.

Thank you so much for coming along on Nick and Heidi’s exciting adventure. Both characters had a lot to learn in this story and I think they were wise enough to take advantage of the opportunities to grow. Heidi had to curb her impatience when it came to working with a coworker who drove her crazy. In addition to that, she had to decide to be ethical and do her best on a story she wasn’t super interested in doing. I was proud of her for doing that.
