SHE FINISHES TAPPING A FIGURATIVE LINE, AND HER EYES CAST HER FISHING LINE GAZE TO REEL IN BRIAN AND CLARISSA - WHO ARE NOW THEMSELVES TAPPING A FIGURATIVE LINE OF COKE.

      CLARISSA

      IT'S A ROOM FULL OF COMPUTERS, COMPUTERS WITH LARGE SCREENS THAT ADORN THE WALLS LIKE WALLPAPER. EVEN THOUGH THE IMAGES ARE NOTHING BUT A BLUR WE RECOGNIZE THE ODD SYMBOL, THE ODD HEADLINE, THE ODD TABLOID COVER.

      CLARISSA PRESENTS ONE SCREEN TO MATT, INTRODUCING IT TO HIM WITH AN OUTSTRETCHED ARM.

      CLARISSA

      You'll recognize this title; The Buzz. I'm sure you've seen this paper on the newsstands.

      MATT

      Yeah.

      SAMANTHA

      Already has more readers than The Sun, and The New York Times. We write better, simple and plain.

      CLARISSA

      Because we're all writers; those who work for The Sun, those who work for The New York Times, and we who work for The Buzz. Obviously. You well know by now that no news is true? The world is invented by creative writers, and now you have the opportunity to write a script, a story, an item; to essentially create a new dimension for the people of the world to vicariously explore. Will we finally find life on Mars? What new sea creatures will we discover this week?

      SAMANTHA

      Save the world. We publish stories that make people feel good, that give people a sense of accomplishment be it real or perceived. We're their favorite soccer team, their favorite baseball team, their favorite NBA team. If we tell them we've found something, they feel they have helped find it; they're a part of our team.

      Write about how Israelis and Palestinians are now gathering at the border, passing flowers to one another, losing their clothes and embracing one another; write about how borders are being torn down or turned into communal thermal bathhouses [1.]; write about the new diving expedition being carried out by a team consisting of Americans, Chinese, and Russians; write about the new dance movement in North Korea - the massive scale music video being produced wherein citizens of the north dance gracefully down to the south to meet up with long lost relatives; write about new megachurches that incorporate features of churches from all different religious denominations and look rather like beehives; write about . . . me . . .
