Pathy's Principles and Practice of Geriatric Medicine

She practices primary care geriatrics at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and directs a unique Geriatric Diabetes Program that she developed at the Joslin Diabetes Center. The primary focus of Dr Munshi’s clinical research is to identify the challenges faced by older individuals with diabetes, to develop strategies to overcome these barriers, and to improve clinical and functional outcomes, including quality of life. Her current research also focuses on the use of technology in the management of older adults with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. She has co‐authored several sets of guidelines locally, nationally, and internationally on the management of older adults with diabetes. She has published many papers of original investigation on the subject of geriatric diabetes and has presented nationally and internationally on this topic.

      About the Associate Editors

       A.H. Abdelhafiz

      Dr A.H. Abdelhafiz is a consultant physician and lead of the Geriatric Department at the Rotherham General Hospital‐NHS Foundation Trust. His interests are ageing, frailty, and diabetes in older people. He is the diabetes advisor for the British Geriatrics Society, champion for Older People Diabetes Network‐North of England, and a member of the Foundation for Diabetes Research in Older People (FDROP). He has written many articles and book chapters in the field of diabetes and frailty in old age.

       Beatrice Arosio

       Julien Delrieu

      Dr Julien Delrieu has a significant clinical practice and research focus in the area of ageing and Alzheimer’s disease, in particular the prevention of cognitive disorders. In 2008, he started working in the Toulouse Gérontopôle, initially in the acute Alzheimer care unit; then he became head of the memory centre, where they assess more than 1500 subjects per year. For more than 10 years, he has participated in major preventative trials in these fields (Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial, NOLAN) and has published more than 50 scientific papers in peer‐reviewed journals. Currently, he is involved in the Inspire Bio‐resource Research Platform for Healthy Aging (INSPIRE Platform) to better understand the relationship between biological ageing and age‐related diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.

       Milta Oyola Little

      Milta Oyola Little, DO, is an associate professor of geriatric medicine at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, USA. She is a senior fellow in the Duke Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development, and her primary scholarly interests are interprofessional health education, models for deprescribing, health systems innovations, and nonpharmacologic management of geriatric syndromes to improve outcomes of older adults across healthcare settings. She serves as the medical director for a local continuing care retirement community and is a leader of health systems change, working to establish an Age‐Friendly Health System in her region.

       Suzanne Eva Salamon

      Dr Suzanne Eva Salamon is an assistant professor of medicine at the Harvard Medical School. She is a geriatrician and practices primary care geriatrics at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she is the associate chief for clinical geriatrics. She is the geriatrics editor of the Harvard Health Letter and has been the medical editor for Harvard Medical School Special Health Reports including ‘Better Balance’ and ‘Aging in Place’. She is active in community public heath, serving on the board of the Brookline Senior Center and writing a monthly column for their newsletter called ‘Ask a Geriatrician’, and she belongs to the Medical Reserve Corps.
